Solved Normal S Not Perpendicular To Polygon Face Problem Autodesk I finished modeling up this hammer and noticed my normal's are all facing along the x axis. is there a way to set them to be perpendicular to the polygon face? i've tried edit normal modifier and selecting the normal's and hitting reset, but nothing seems to change. not sure how they got that way, or how to reset them. To display the face normals go to display > polygon > face normals (pic 5) i reccomend you to bring these tools in a shelf by just holding ctrl shift left mouse click on the tool in the drop down menu (or middle mouse click); you can see in pic 6 my shelf. hope you can understand my explaination :).
Solved Normal S Not Perpendicular To Polygon Face Problem Autodesk Hello everyone, i'm trying to extrude a sketch done on a face and i find that that the extrusion is not perpendicular to the face: the sketch was done on that face. when selecting both faces highlighted with the red marker, they show an angle of 1.708e 06 deg. note that on the left side of the object i have exact same extrusion where. But, in case you want to create a polygon which is fully constraint on an arbitrary plane i will recommend following steps. 1. create a plane (at an angle) where you want to create the polygon. 2. sketch the polygon. 3. create another plane perpendicular to the polygon plane. 4. The vector you are getting should already be normalized. to ensure you get a normal pointing out of the face, you need to use the functionality on the surfaceevaluator object that you get from the brepface object. here's a modified version of your code that does that. i didn't test it, so there might be a typo or two, but it illustrates the idea. I want to select a face of a solid and that the view will change to show me that face parallel to the screen you can use the ucs command, give it an origin point and follow the prompts about a point on the x axis and to define the xy plane [giving it appropriate points on the appropriate face], then use the plan command to look straight at that.

The order of vertices around the face determine the direction of the face (whether a side of the polygon is the front or the back). for example, if you place vertices in a clockwise direction, the face normal points downward. if you place vertices in a counter clockwise direction, the face normal points upward. see create a polygon mesh. One way to fix it is to draw a line in a viewport that is perpendicular to the axis along which you want to extrude, attach your original shape to it, then delete the line at the spline sub object level. now if you apply the extrude modifier, everything should be back to normal. 04 29 2008 05:27 pm.
